Diabetic Diet

The primary diabetic diet should be a strict lacto-vegetarian and low-caloric, low-fat, alkaline diet of high quality, natural foods. The musts for a diabetic diet are fruits, nuts and vegetables, whole meal bread and dairy products; also it is advisable to avoid cooked starchy foods. Fats and oils should be taken sparingly, for they are apt to lower the tolerance for proteins and starches. One can indulge during the mid-afternoon with a glass of fresh fruit or vegetable juice.
