The complications of this can be severe, including congenital abnormalities, excessive head size or fetal weight and even more serious birth defects. It is thought that while suffering depression makes pregnancy related diabetes more likely to occur, suffering from type 1 or type 2 diabetes can also lead to depression during and post pregnancy.

As a medicine Kudzu has been used for over 1,000 years in the Chinese culture. The medicinal ingredient is daidzin and it is touted as a medicine that can reduce drinking and prevent future relapses of alcoholism. Now a synthetic version of Kudzu has been developed. Because alcoholism is a medical disorder medicine is effective in its treatment. Relapse into alcoholism is a serious problem but the synthetic Kudzu is expected to aid in helping alcoholics from reverting back to drinking.
